The Application of Artificial Intelligence in 6G Networks

Native AI technology for 6G networks

Although 6G is in its early stages, it is certain that artificial intelligence/machine learning will become a fundamental component of various aspects of future wireless communication systems. At the network level, although there is no formal definition, the term "AI native" has been widely used in the industry. One way to observe these AI native networks is to infer based on the current virtualization technology and disaggregation trends of RAN (Wireless Access Network). Each block in the network may contain artificial intelligence/machine learning models, which may vary between different suppliers and applications.

AI native networks can also be used to refer to networks built to run native artificial intelligence/machine learning models. In traditional 5G networks, the air interface is composed of different parts, each of which is designed by humans. In the 5G Advanced network, each part will utilize machine learning techniques to optimize specific functions. In a 6G network, artificial intelligence may use deep neural networks to design the entire air interface.
